Configure script settings
Script settings control how your screenplay is laid out, numbered, and what appears in its page header and footer. The settings apply to the selected script and are saved when you press Save in the Global Settings footer — like every other settings panel. This article covers each setting and how to open the panel.
Before you start
- You have the Admin role (or are the project Owner). The panel is read-only on a published script — unpublish it to edit (see Publish and share a script).
- A project, episode, and revision are selected in the top bar.
Open script settings
While viewing a script, open the settings cog — at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop, or in the top bar on phones. It opens Global Settings on Script viewer → Display options, which shows the Scripts Settings panel.
Your edits preview live in the panel but are not committed until you press Save in the Global Settings footer; closing the dialog without saving discards them. If the script is published, a banner reads “Script is locked. Unpublish to edit.” and the controls are disabled.

Layout
| Setting | Options |

| Margins | Top, bottom, left, and right margins in inches. Each value is clamped to 0.0–3.0. |
| Font | Font family — Courier Prime or Courier New — and font size in points (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, or 18 pt). |
Margin values are clamped when you click away from the field; like all settings here, they commit when you press Save.
Page numbering
Turn Page numbering on to number the pages, then set:

| Start from | The first page’s number. |
| Formatting | A format pattern using $n placeholders — for example $nnn renders 001, and Page $n renders Page 1. |
Scene numbering
Scene numbering works as a lock: turn it on to unlock the controls and apply a new numbering scheme. It exposes the same Number mode, Start from, and Formatting options as page numbering.
Changing these options does not renumber existing scenes on its own. To apply the scheme:
- Set the Number mode, Start from, and Formatting you want. A “Pending” pill appears when your settings differ from the actual scene numbers.
- Select Apply to all scenes.
- In the Renumber Scenes dialog — “This will replace all scene numbers with auto-generated values based on the current settings. This cannot be undone.” — select Renumber to proceed, or Cancel.
Display
Turn on Highlight revised text to tint scenes that changed in the latest revision, so reviewers can spot edits at a glance.
Content lines (page header and footer)
The Content lines section composes what prints in the page header and footer. First turn on Page Header, Page Footer, or both. Then, for each line, choose where it appears with a placement dropdown — Off, Header, Footer, or Both:
- Project Title
- Episode Name (TV Series projects only)
- Revision Color — with an optional Show revision date in heading toggle
- Date — shown only when the script is locked (published)
- Production Name
- Manual text — your own free-text line, typed in the field below the row
- Screenwriter — typed in the field below the row
- Confidentiality Note — typed in the field below the row
Entity-derived lines (Project Title, Episode Name, Revision Color, Date, Production Name) have a gear that opens a per-line settings dialog for the exact value shown.
How settings flow downstream
These settings shape how the script renders on screen and in the PDF download. They are part of the script, the most upstream stage, so changing them changes what reports built from this script show after you re-snapshot them — settings never flow back the other way.
