Generate a one-liner

The one-liner is a compact day-by-day schedule — one row per scene, with just the essentials. Producers and ADs use it for quick scheduling reference, distribution to stakeholders, and meetings. This article covers generating the one-liner, regrouping it, and exporting.

The one-liner is a snapshot report: until you snapshot it, it shows a read-only live preview that refreshes automatically after scene, shoot-day, strip-order, or production-unit changes. Sync from Schedule freezes the current schedule into the document so it will not change under you; then you edit and Refresh Data to pull upstream changes (preserving or replacing your edits). Export sends the snapshotted version — sync first. See Snapshot reports versus live reports.

Before you start

  • You have a scenario that is active or locked in the Schedule section. Without one you see “No schedule data available — Lock a scenario to generate the one-liner schedule.”

Generate the one-liner

  1. Open Reports and select the One-Liner card.
  2. The schedule renders from the active scenario as a read-only preview.
  3. To freeze it into an editable, exportable document, select Sync from Schedule in the side panel.

What is on the page

Grouped by day, the one-liner shows:

  • Non-shooting day banners — travel, prep, and hiatus days appear as coloured banners.
  • Shooting day headers — day number, date, and unit.
  • Scene rows — scene number, INT/EXT and day or night, Set, description or synopsis, cast IDs, and page count.
  • Footer summary — total shoot days, total scenes, total pages.

The row format is intentionally compact — one line per scene, no extended notes.

Regroup the schedule

The Reports left rail has a Group by selector that re-groups the same scenes without leaving the page:

  • By shoot day (default) — the chronological day-by-day layout.
  • By Set — scenes gathered under each in-story Set.
  • By INT/EXT — interiors and exteriors separated.
  • By status — scenes bucketed by status.

The active grouping is reflected in the page address, so a grouped view can be bookmarked or shared.

Export

The side panel shows Export PDF, which downloads a print-ready copy with a standard built-in header. It is available once you have synced the one-liner; if you have not synced yet, sync first. The side panel also shows a summary of total shoot days, scenes, and pages.

Manage one-liner variations

Each scenario can hold multiple one-liner variations — useful when sharing alternative day orders or stripped-down versions with different stakeholders. The version picker at the top of the canvas shows the active variation and a Manage button.

Inside Manage variations you can create a new variation (an Empty draft, a Copy active variation, or a Fresh snapshot from upstream), activate one as the primary variation, and rename or delete a non-active variation. Variations are independent — editing or refreshing one never touches its siblings. The first sync creates the Main variation, which is active.
