Compare two scenarios

The Compare tab shows how two scenarios differ — which scenes were added, removed, moved to another day, or reordered — so you can weigh one shooting order against another before committing. This article covers running a comparison and reading the results.

Before you start

  • The project has at least two scenarios. If it has fewer, the tab shows Need at least 2 scenarios to compare (see Create and manage scenarios).

Compare two scenarios

To compare two scenarios:

  1. On the Schedule screen, open the Compare tab.
  2. Pick a scenario in the Scenario A dropdown.
  3. Pick a different scenario in the Scenario B dropdown.

The comparison runs automatically once both are chosen. Until then the tab shows Select two different scenarios to compare. You cannot compare a scenario with itself.

Read the results

The results lead with five summary cards. Each card shows a count and the percentage of all strips it represents.

MovedScenes on a different shoot day in B than in A.
AddedScenes in Scenario B that are not in Scenario A.
RemovedScenes in Scenario A that are not in Scenario B.
ReorderedScenes on the same day but in a different position.
UnchangedScenes on the same day and in the same position in both scenarios.

Each card pairs its color with a labeled icon, so the meaning never rests on color alone.

Drill into a category

Select a Moved, Added, Removed, or Reordered card to filter the detail below to that category and scroll to it. Select the same card again to clear the filter. The Unchanged card is a count only and is not clickable.

The detail sections group strips by shoot day and show the scene number, INT/EXT, time of day, Set, and page count of each strip:

  • Moved Strips — grouped by destination day, each with a Day X → Day Y pill.
  • Reordered Strips — each with a #from → #to position pill.
  • Added Strips and Removed Strips — listed under the day they sit on.

How comparison works

A comparison reads the strips of both scenarios and reports the structural differences in scene placement: day assignment and order within a day. It does not compare day metadata such as crew call times, and it does not change either scenario. Comparing is safe to run against a locked scenario — for example, to see how a proposed order differs from a finalized one.
