Schedule overview
The Schedule section is where you turn a broken-down script into a shooting order. You build a strip board, arrange scenes into shoot days, try out alternative schedules with scenarios, and check the plan for conflicts. This overview explains how the pieces fit together and links to the task articles.
Before you start
- A project and episode are selected. Scenarios are episode-scoped and can be created before the first script; scenes appear when the episode has a production-ready revision.
- Ideally, your scenes have breakdowns (tagged elements). Cast, page counts, and element data make the strip board and conflict checks far more useful.

The four tabs
The Schedule screen opens on the Strip Board tab. A row of tabs sits below the scenario bar:

Key concepts
Scenarios
A scenario is a named version of your schedule. Create several to explore different shooting orders — for example, “Main schedule,” “Weather cover,” or “Revised order.” One scenario is active at a time, and you select which one from the scenario bar. A scenario can be locked to prevent accidental changes; a locked scenario shows a green LOCKED badge on its pill. See Create and manage scenarios.
Strips and banners
A strip represents one scene on the board. It shows the scene number, INT/EXT, time of day, the set, page count, cast, and other fields. A banner is a non-scene event you insert between strips — a company move, meal break, or note. See Add strips and banners.
Shoot days
Shoot days are numbered Day 1, Day 2, and so on, and each can carry a calendar date, a crew call time, a location, and notes. A day has a type — Shooting, Prep, Travel, Hiatus, Weekend, Holiday, Weather, or Wrap — and non-shooting types show a badge on the day banner. See Add and edit shoot days.
Unscheduled pool
Scenes that aren’t on a shoot day yet sit in the unscheduled pool, a panel on the right of the Strip Board and Calendar tabs (visible at 900px and wider). On the Strip Board, drag a strip directly into a day and position. On Calendar, drop it onto an existing unlocked shooting day; empty dates and non-shooting days do not accept drops.
How the schedule fits the data flow
Data in SceneItAll flows downstream only: Script → Breakdown → Crew → Schedule → Reports. The schedule reads scene, breakdown, and cast data from upstream; it does not change them. Downstream, reports such as the call sheet, sides, and Day Out of Days report take a snapshot of the active scenario when you refresh them. Re-snapshot a report to pull in your latest schedule changes.
A typical first schedule
- Create a scenario. On the scenario bar, open the + Add menu and choose Scenario (or use the Create scenario button on the empty board), then give it a name.
- Add shoot days. Open + Add and choose Shoot days (or use the Add shoot days button on the empty board).
- Schedule scenes. On the Strip Board, drag strips from the unscheduled pool onto a day.
- Set the order. Drag strips up or down within a day. Use Calendar when you want the month and one complete editable day visible together.
- Check for problems. Choose Detect conflicts in the Strip Board toolbar.
- Lock it. When the schedule is final, lock the scenario from its pill menu.
To branch an existing schedule, select its scenario pill and choose + Add → Duplicate scenario. The copy includes the scenario’s shoot days and strips.
